I am an artist with a long professional history and considerable body of available work. I use color and form to capture the energy in natural systems. I perceive the physical world as a realized Eden and paint to communicate the immense power of intact ecosystems. My work as an ecologist takes me into remarkable sites across the American West. I seek out the last wild places. When I discover the subtle presence of the unspoiled, I find I am also surrounded by close friends; as a botanist, ornithologist, and lifelong child, I paint the beings I know and love. I am one of the new wave of western scientist artists, for whom the study of the last wild places is quantitative as well as qualitative. My paintings transpose a flat, inert wall into a window of life, a timeless threshold through which the patron can share my vision. All paintings are oil on wood panel, canvas board, or stretched canvas. All paintings will be shipped with a simple wood frame, ready to hang. |
